Outland Entertainment is pleased to announce the release of a brand new edition of Allison Pang's dystopian, steampunk, fantasy adventure, Magpie's Fall, the second of her IronHeart Chronicles.
Sing a song of sixpence, a penny for your thoughts.
Roll a ball of red thread, to untangle all the knots.
Tie me up and tie me down, the better for which to hang.
Let me dangle without regret, like no song I ever sang.
Things are not going well for Raggy Maggy. Her attempts to challenge the corrupt authority of Meridion, and unravel the identities of those behind the plague affecting BrightStone, has landed her in the Pits, the worst possible fate for a Moon Child like her. There, she'll live among the Rotters, those with a disease making them rot from the inside—and turn into mindless, decayed versions of themselves.
Maggy meant to go to the Pits to gather the proof she needs to bring down Meridion. But she finds that even her worst fears were understated, and the reality of the Pit is far more hopeless than she'd believed. Despite it all, it's not in Maggy's nature to give up…and if there's a way out, Maggy won't rest until she finds it.
This second series entry brings readers back to Pang's dystopian world and its blend of clockwork technology and magic. Even in the face of overwhelming odds, Pang's young hero doesn't back down. Readers who grew up with Suzanne Collins's The Hunger Games or Marie Lu's Legend series are sure to be drawn into Maggy's world. Others may find the plague that impacts BrightStone reminiscent of the curse in Brandon Sanderson's early novel Elantris—or zombie films—and will root for Maggy to find a way to change the world for the better.
