OUTLAND ENTERTAINMENT ACQUIRES HOPELESS, MAINE
Multiple Collaborations Will Result in Graphic Novels, Novels, and Role-Playing Game Based in Hopeless, Maine Universe
Kansas City, MO: Outland Entertainment is pleased to announce they have acquired a series of both novels and graphic novels in the Hopeless, Maine universe by Tom and Nimue Brown. They will be running a Kickstarter to support the project in early 2021. Additionally, they are working with Alan Bahr to produce an RPG based in the same world.
Hopeless, Maine is a dark fantasy, much beloved by the British Steampunk scene, where people trapped on an island off the coast find their life a little darker and more dangerous with every day that passes. The world brings a sense of gothic decay, wild landscapes, and strange creatures to the forefront.
“I’m excited to collaborate with Outland Entertainment to continue bringing Hopeless, Maine to fans, both new and old. Outland Entertainment understands our vision for the project, and I’m thrilled to be working with them to expand this world into something better than it has been before,” said Tom Brown, co-creator of Hopeless, Maine. “Hopeless is a fictional island off the coast of Maine, much beloved of the British Steampunk scene. Come for the tentacles, stay because the island darkly enchants you.”
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be working with Tom and Nimue to put Hopeless, Maine back out into the North American market,” said Jeremy Mohler, Outland Entertainment’s Founder and Creative Director. “Their story is intriguing and the artwork mind-blowing. I couldn’t be more excited and honored to help publish their epic story.”
Trapped on an island off the coast of Maine, the people of Hopeless find life a little darker and more dangerous with every day that passes. The number of orphans rises continually, but who can say what happens to their parents? Plenty of the bodies are never found. This is not the stuff of happy, careless childhoods, it is instead fertile ground for personal demons. In Hopeless, the demons are not always abstract concepts. Some of them have very real teeth, and very real horns. The island has been isolated for a very long time. Partly because of being small and forgotten, partly because the rocks and currents do not encourage visitors, Hopeless is surrounded by fog and overrun with nightmarish creatures, from small things with tentacles to demons and vampires. It is a peculiar place. Here, almost anything can happen, from the weird and unsettling to the darkly funny. With a cast of freaks, nutters and the odd power crazed psychopath, life in Hopeless is seldom dull.
