The inimitable Books of Before & Now trilogy comes to its epic conclusion in the latest from author Jason Fischer! It's The Bride & the Birdman, available now in Outland's store and anywhere fine books are sold!
The post-apocalyptic world of the Now is in extra deep this time. The world's ending, literally disappearing under an encroaching wave of monstrous death. While the Jesusmen battle to buy time for the Junkman, the reunited Family faces off with the Most High, the creator of all things, a jealous god all too willing to burn his creation down.
All your favorites are here. Lanyard Everett. Tilly. Mal and Kyrstle, together at last. Papa Lucy, Sol, Baertha, Ray, and the entire crew of would-be gods. Friends and foes–and those who are a little of both–have no choice but to work together if they want to survive.
It's fast. It's frantic. It's just as bloody and brutal and dark and hilarious as its predecessors, Papa Lucy & the Boneman and The Jawbone & the Junkman. The prose is rich, the description's evocative, and Fischer has packed the text with pop culture references and Easter eggs. It's one of the wildest things I've read in the last few years, and it's a more-than fitting conclusion to the trilogy. I legit teared up a little when it was done.
