In Short: Think of it as a tale of survival horror in a land like Mordor, if the corruption of Mordor spread across all of Middle Earth and all that was sitting in the way of total destruction was a group of kids who got sucked into the world and were woefully unprepared for the journey.
What's It About: We all know the classic story: a group of friends playing a fantasy RPG gets magically transported into a whimsical fantasy realm, meets a helpful gnome, and embarks on heroic adventures filled with friendship and courage.
This isn’t that story.
In The Faraway, five college students are yanked into a fantasy world of warriors, wizards, and magical artifacts—only to discover it’s not the high fantasy escapade they might have dreamed of. Instead, they’re thrust into the darkest of dark fantasy realms, where the “evil overlord” has already won. The free peoples are enslaved, and the land is overrun with monstrous creatures, merciless sorcerers, and brutal warlords.
This isn’t about becoming heroes; it's about survival.
Imagine a survival horror story set in a land like Mordor—if Mordor’s corruption spread across all of Middle Earth. In this unforgiving nightmare, every moment is a battle against the grotesque and the cruel, testing the limits of courage and endurance.
Penned by horror comic legend Cullen Bunn and brought to life with intense, dynamic artwork by Vitalii Kalchenko, The Faraway takes the familiar “gamers trapped in a fantasy world” trope and flips it on its decapitated head. Prepare for a harrowing journey through a brutal, unforgiving world where the only certainty is fear.
Welcome to The Faraway…this is no game.
