Rogues: A Blackguards RPG Powered By Tombpunk Released

Outland Entertainment is pleased to announce that Rogues: A Blackguards RPG, powered by Alan Bahr's Tombpunk, is now available!

The world is a mess. A blackguard just needs to game the system.

Whether it’s outrunning the city guard, pilfering a wizard’s tower, or running the long con on a dastardly noble, these mission hooks invite players to navigate the world on the other side of the law, whether for noble purposes or to weigh their own purses. Using the Tombpunk engine, a high-octane, high-action system with a rules-light approach, the Blackguards RPG encourages foul play.

Go ahead.

We won’t tell.

But we can’t guarantee the same for your party members. In this game, there’s no honor among blackguards.

You may have picked up one of Outland’s anthologies (Brigands, Scoundrels, and Knaves), full of stories about bad (and good!) people doing bad things (sometimes for the right reasons). Fantasy is full of anti-heroes, or true heroes working on the other side of the law in order to save the day, especially when the law is wrong.

WHAT'S NEW?

THREE NEW CLASSES.

Brigands. Knaves. And check out the new SCOUNDRELS class!

ONE WHOLE NEW WAY TO RUN A GAME.

CONS
Rogues introduces ways to adventure and pick up some Coin in the wilds, delving through dungeons and facing off against goatfolk. But say all that wilderness stuff is for adventurers with a less…flexible moral code than you have. Fighting monsters is the straightforward way to earn Coin as an adventurer (despite the high death rates), but that doesn’t really help you with the longer goal of tearing down the bureaucracy oppressing your people.

Or just, you know, just enforcing laws you don’t think should apply to you. Psh. Who needs laws?

NEW VILLAINS (AND MONSTERS).

To name a few: City Guard. Royal Guard. Card Sharp. The Guild. And check out the DIVINE WRATH!

What follows in these pages is an adaptation of Alan Bahr’s minimalist system, Tombpunk, to fit the Blackguards aesthetic. In some ways, the system, which is down and dirty, was already a perfect fit. But we’ve tweaked the rules here and there to make sure the emphasis is on working outside the law. Add in some corrupt nobles, some overbearing city guards, crime organizations who don’t like people operating outside their own guidelines, and your average everyday creatures of chaos, and you’ve got a perfect recipe for some scoundrels, knaves, and brigands to have a good time.
