Hey folks!

I just wanted to take a moment to post about a project that Outland Creative is involved in called New Fire, created by Jason Caminsky.

New Fire is a tabletop fantasy roleplaying/storytelling game inspired by the history and mythology of the Aztec-Mexica, the Maya, and the other great civilizations of Precolumbian Mesoamerica. It is really a very cool setting with a look and feel entirely different from a lot of the typical RPG settings. And I’m really excited to be heading the art development for this. We’ve got some really great artists lined up to work on it as well -

Alan Gallo

Chris Meeks

Scott Godlewski

In order to raise the funds for the art, we’re running a Kickstarter Campaign. The majority of the funds from this will be going to add art to the RPG, so every bit will help and means we can add more artwork to the project!

Please, go check it out! If it seems interesting to you at all, please drop a few bucks and help us bring this to life with art.

Thanks!

Hey folks -

I just wanted to take a moment and introduce a new endeavor that myself and some other artists are taking on. You can check it all out over at www.outlandcollective.com!

Here is some text from the site -

I’ve always been infatuated with the idea of artist collectives. There are many, but the one that inspires me the most is the Studio. Barry Windsor-Smith, Jeff Jones, Kaluta, and Bernie Wrightson were all successful commercial artists. They formed the Studio to take a break from the work-for-hire side of illustration and enjoy creating some artwork of their own. They worked side by side, providing each other with inspiration, ideas, and maybe just a little competition. These artists produced some of their finest work during their years at the Studio.

As a freelance artist, I can relate to the need to break away from the commercial side of illustration and do some drawings of my own. It’s hard to make time for my own projects since I am always busy with paying work. In order to prioritize my own artwork, I needed to give myself deadlines, an audience, and some accountability. Being part of an artist collective is the perfect excuse to devote time to my creative endeavors.

For the past three or four years, I’ve been a member of a local gallery. I have enjoyed it a great deal, but I have always felt out of place there. My work is illustrative in nature and tends toward the fantasy, science-fiction, and comic genres. It isn’t the kind of art you usually find in brick-and-mortar galleries. I have always wanted to be part of a gallery focused on the kind of art I do.

I created Outland Collective with all of these things in mind. It is part artist collective, part online gallery. As an artist collective, it fosters a spirit of camaraderie and mutual inspiration. As a gallery, it features an excellent group of professional comic book and fantasy artists.

Starting today with our first First Friday, Outland Collective presents:

A new, never-seen-before piece of full color artwork from a member of Outland Collective. I am the first artist on the lineup, so please check out my new piece!

11″x17″ prints of Outland Collective artwork. These are available exclusively at our site and at our convention booths. All prints are signed and numbered.

A monthly sketch challenge for all members. We’ll feature a new sketch every week. Our first sketch challenge is a self-portrait.

I’ll be introducing the other Outland Collective members throughout the month of March. Stay tuned!

Looking forward to seeing you all over there!

Hello folks!

I just wanted to take a quick moment to invite you all out to The Collective Art Gallery on Friday, July 1st.

I will be presenting the intro to a new graphic novel based in The World of Baeg Tobar. I am handling most of the art chores and lettering while Emily Hall is writing the story. This will be the first time any of this work has been made public.

Below is a promo piece and a synopsis of the story.

A road weary traveler returns to his quaint little hometown and discovers that it isn’t as he left it. The old tavern has been replaced with a dour, imposing church, and a new magistrate has taken control. The Old Book has been replaced with a New Book, and all old books have been banned. Most alarming of all, there is a large iron cage in the public square, and in that cage – a woman.

As he listens to the woman’s story, the traveler learns two things. First, she is every bit the strange old witch that the townspeople think she is. Second, she may be their only salvation.

The Old Book states that the apocalypse is coming, and only a witch can prevent it. Facing adversity from superstitious ownspeople, a power?hungry magistrate, and deadly supernatural forces, they must find a way to stop the end of the world.

Hope to see you out there!

Jeremy

Welcome to Outland Entertainment. This year has brought about some momentous changes for the company. In 2010, Matt Jacobs left to pursue promising work in LA. I stepped in as Jeremy’s business partner, and we began thinking of ways to rework Outland for 2011.

While Jeremy has continued to work on projects under OE, both of us felt that we could turn it into something bigger – A home for all of our creative projects, and perhaps a meeting place for other artists working in the industry. So we came up with the idea of splitting the company into three subsidiaries:

Outland Creative will continue to offer the same quality creative services that OE always did – Illustration, art direction, copywriting, website development, and more. Creating excellent professional work for clients has always been a vital part of this company. Outland Creative is always accepting new work.

Outland Entertainment is where we will publish and promote our own fiction and webcomics. Baeg Tobar, Jeremy’s epic fiction site, will launch first. Then we will begin rolling out others.

Outland Collective is an online gallery for artists and friends. The site is still in development, but Jeremy already has a handful of amazing artists lined up.

This has been a long process that involved many hours of discussion, some very hard decisions, and a few fruitless visits to the bank. In the coming months, we have approximately ten million things to do to get everything up and running smoothly. But here we are! Open for business.
