2008-present: Senior Content Developer, Motorola, Inc., Lawrence, KS
I work with engineers to develop effective, user-friendly documentation for two products. I create online help systems, release notes, brochures, and instructional videos.
2011-present: Adjunct Instructor, Kansas City Art Institutes International, Lenexa, KS
I teach a course a Humanities course titled “Sensory Language and Culture.” The class explores the ways people communicate ideas through a variety of media, including visual art, music, fashion, and cuisine. As a teacher, I focus on critical thinking, writing, and developing original creative work.
2006-2008: Technical Writing Intern, Motorola, Inc., Lawrence, KS
Created and maintained a complete online help system.
2005-2008: Graduate Teaching Assistant, University of Kansas Department of English
I taught undergraduate classes in writing, critical thinking, and reading comprehension. As a teacher, I developed original courses and course materials for a range of genres. I planned daily activities for the development of writing and critical thinking skills and led workshops in fiction writing.
2004-2006: Writing Consultant, University of Kansas Writing Center
Assisted undergraduates and graduates with writing projects for a variety of fields and majors of study. Worked one-on-one with students to craft papers, resumes, artist statements, presentations, theses, and dissertations. Helped students acclimate to the conventions of Standard American English.
